Belgrade Chamber Choir was founded in 1996, and is comprised of 20 remarkable professional artists.
Already with its first performances – at the Choirs Among Frescoes Festival and the opening concert of Studenica Monastery Spiritual Academy – the choir gained respect on the local art scene as a superb ensemble.Belgrade chamber choir in studio
The Belgrade Chamber Choir performed at BEMUS Festival in 1997, presenting a world premiere of the spiritual-astral concert Constellations, by contemporary composer Vladan Radosavljević, a piece for 12 voices, 12 glowing spheres and electronics (1998. Composers’ Association of Serbia Award). The choir also put on premiere performances of vocal pieces by Ivana Stefanović and Aleksandar Vujić at the International Composers’ Tribune, and performed concerts of spiritual music at the Mokranjčevi Dani Festival in Negotin, Serbia.
Belgrade chamber choir concert in St Sava cathedralEvery year since its founding, the Belgrade Chamber Choir performs Easter Concerts at the Belgrade Cathedral Church as well as in other churches and monasteries in Serbia. The choir is also one of the participants of the Great Easter concert performances at the St. Sava Temple, held on St. Vitus Day. On St. Vitus Day 2009 the Belgrade Chamber Choir had the honor of being the first ever to perform in the Crypt of the Patriarchs, at the St. Sava Temple.
In addition to numerous performances in Serbia, the Belgrade Chamber Choir toured in Russia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Belarus, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Among the greatest achievements are: concerts at the world famous Moscow Easter Festival ; concerts in Athens, Belgrade chamber choir in RTS studioas part of Serbiart event presenting Serbian culture in the Greek capital; 7 concerts presenting Serbian culture in Belarus; performance at the Berlin Jazz Festival with the Dejan Terzić Quintet ; numerous performances with the RTS Big Band.
The Belgrade Chamber Choir performs a wide-ranging repertoire of spiritual music, a large number of vocal and vocal-instrumental European classical music masterpieces, as well as contemporary musical works.
